Position Overview

The Server provides friendly and responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all guests. Required follow all Provincial and Local food handling, and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and greet guests. Engages with guests is a friendly manner.

• Responds to guests’ questions about food, beverages and other restaurant functions and
services.

• Learns and understands the menu, with the ability to make suggestions, including knowing
key ingredients relating to food allergies.

• Monitors and observes guests’ dining experience. Ensures guests are satisfied with the food
and service. Responds promptly and courteously to any requests.

• Takes food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of-sale system to relay
orders to the kitchen and bar.

• Checks identification for age-restricted items, such as alcoholic beverages, delivers food and
beverages in a timely matter.

• Prepares final bill, presents checks to guests, collects payments, processes credit card
charges or makes change (if applicable).

• Thanks guests for their visit and invites them to return.

• Reconciles and balances cash register at close.

• Maintains clean and sanitary service areas.

• Assists with clearing and resetting tables.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of a Grade 10 education is required.

• Currently hold and maintain a valid Food Handler Certification.

• Currently hold and maintain a valid Smart Serve Certification.

• Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment is preferred.

• A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with bussers, cooks and other
staff.

• Basic math skills with the ability to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale
system.

• Strong conflict resolution skills.

• Ability to learn and use the tools and systems in the restaurant.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver orders in a timely manner.

• Patience with guests is required, particularly during busy rushes.

• Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised.

• Ability to communicate well with other restaurant staff and guests and maintain personable
and professional communication at all times.

• Performs other related tasks and projects as assigned, which are in accordance with job
responsibilities or necessary department and corporate objectives.

• Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Ontario Health and Safety Act and Regulations
and the Corporate Health & Safety policy and related procedures.

• The successful candidate will be required to provide a current, clear Criminal Record Check from an accredited Police Service prior to employment.


Working Conditions:
• Restaurant environment located in the Sports Village.

• Ability to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends).
