Responsible to assist with the operation of City of Vaughan facilities; performs special event set-up and tear-down, and custodial duties ensuring facilities are maintained to the highest standards and are safe, clean and functional.
Facility Attendant Function:• Assists Facility Operators with maintaining facilities in a safe, clean and functional condition.• Completes work as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor, Facility Operations Coordinator, or Facility Operators.• Performs regular, ongoing maintenance and janitorial duties as required throughout the facilities including responding to various cleaning requirements as they arise.• Completes setups and tear- downs for programs, activities and events scheduled in various areas of the facilities ensuring that all requirements are met.• Assists with security of the facilities and that operations meet or exceed all regulations, acts and by-laws.• Provides quality customer service and delivery to all patrons using the facilities.Other Duties:• Performs other duties related to the position, as assigned.• Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the corporate Occupational Health and Safety Policy and related procedures.
• Possesses a Secondary School Diploma, or suitable equivalent or in the process of obtaining.• Have a working knowledge of janitorial/cleaning work methods.• Demonstrated ability in the safe operation of related janitorial equipment (ie. Mop, broom cleaning products, hand tools, vacuum, shovel, personal protective equipment, etc.)• Able to deal courteously and effectively with staff and the general public.• Must be prepared to work flexible hours including evening, weekend, and/or holiday shifts.• ORFA Basic Refrigeration and/or Certified Pool Operator Certificate considered an asset.• Successful candidate(s) will be required to submit a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Check from an accredited police service prior to commencing employment.• Ability to work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as required.
