In accordance with all applicable City, provincial and federal guidelines, acts and regulations, responsible for the operations, maintenance and repair of wastewater collection and storm water infrastructure and appurtenances, including pump stations, methane stations, storm and sanitary sewers, service connections, manholes, catch basins, inlet/outlet structures and grates, storm water management ponds, and any other infrastructure and appurtenances necessary for the operation of wastewater collection and storm water systems; completes associated paperwork and provides backup support to the Assistant Foreperson and Supervisor.The Environmental Services Department is recruiting for one Wastewater Operator that hold Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 Wastewater Collection certification.
Qualifications required of all Operators:• Proficiency in various computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word).• Ability to read maps, drawings, schematics, plan and profiles etc., using in part computer technologies.• Valid Class "D" with a "Z" endorsement driver’s license in good standing and willing to obtain a Class "A" with a "Z" endorsement driver’s license if requested.• Holds and maintains a current and valid First Aid Certificate.• Maintains adequate training in all required health and safety requirements in accordance with City policies and procedures and all provincial and federal guidelines, acts and regulations.• Ability to work unsupervised in a variety of maintenance and emergency situations.• Must be available for overtime, shift work and primary stand-by assignments 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, as required consistent with the provisions of the collective agreement.Qualifications as listed below per classification level:Level 1• Grade 12 graduate or suitable equivalent.• Holds and maintains a valid Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Wastewater Collection Level 1 Operator License which requires completing a minimum of 1,800 hours of operational experience and 40 hours of on the job training over a one year period.• Minimum of one (1) year experience in the maintenance and repair of municipal wastewater collection and storm water sewer systems and equipment.• Rate of pay: $28.32 (min) - $35.39 (max)Level 2• Grade 12 graduate or suitable equivalent.• Holds and maintains a valid Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change Wastewater Collection Level 2-Operator License which requires completing a minimum of 5,400 hours of operational experience and 120 hours of on the job training over a three year period.• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of municipal wastewater collection and storm water sewer systems and equipment.• Rate of pay: $29.71 (min) - $37.14 (max)Level 3• Successful completion of a (2) two year College Diploma in Environmental Studies or equivalent discipline; or other education deemed equivalent by the MECP to a two year diploma in Environmental Services or equivalent discipline.• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of municipal wastewater collection and storm water sewer systems and equipment.• Holds and maintains a valid Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change Wastewater Collection Level 3-Operator License which requires completing a minimum of 7,200 hours of operational experience and 160 hours of on the job training over a three year period. In addition, the individual must have a minimum of two years as operator in charge experience which includes responsibility for the day to day operation of the subsystem, setting operational parameters and instructing other operators on same.• Rate of pay: $31.21 (min) - $39.01 (max)
