Reporting to the Program Manager - Special Projects, Infrastructure Development (iDev), the Communications Coordinator, Infrastructure Development assists with the program communications within iDev. Responsible for assisting with Portfolio communications strategies, the Portfolio’s vision, objectives, and strategic priorities, as well as providing recommendations regarding communications-related issues. Under the direction of the Program Manager and the Deputy City Manager, iDev, develops internal communications to support the implementation of iDev programs across the Portfolio as well as communicating key projects and updates to the Senior Leadership Team. Works in collaboration with portfolio Management Team and other City partners to deliver targeted communications to advance projects, programs, and initiatives, supporting the six departments within the Portfolio, in alignment with the Corporate Strategic Plan.
• Successful completion of a two (2) year College Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration, or suitable equivalent.• Minimum of one (1) year's related experience in public or private sector environment responsible for coordinating communications projects.• Politically and culturally sensitive.• Strong creative and problem-solving skills as well as a solid understanding of writing, grammar and punctuation principles.• Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage projects successfully, from start to completion; coupled with the ability to manage multiple priorities to successfully achieve aggressive deadlines.• Superior customer service skills including the ability to work collaboratively and professionally with staff teams, agencies and external contacts.• Strong communications, interpersonal, speaking and presentation skills.• Thorough working knowledge of computer software packages including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Outlook, with HTML, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator and In Design skills considered an asset.• Knowledge of MS Office and common software programs to produce accessible documents, presentations and materials in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).• Strong understanding of municipal government structures, functions, and service delivery environments is considered an asset.• Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in planning, business administration, and project management for host of communications projects or initiatives.• Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of staff and external agencies, exercising sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy.• Knowledge of, or demonstrated ability in, the City’s core competencies and relevant functional competencies.• Ability to work outside normal business hours as required.
